Ferruccio Laviani x Kartell

Ferruccio Laviani: lighting design between innovation and decoration

Ferruccio Laviani has created some of Kartell’s most recognizable lighting designs, experimenting with transparency, reflections, intricate surfaces and contemporary production techniques. His approach often reinterprets familiar decorative forms through modern materials and technologies, creating Italian design lighting by Kartell with a strong visual identity. The result is a diverse family of lamps suited to residential, hospitality and professional interiors, from statement suspension lighting to smaller lamps designed to create intimate points of light.

Kartell pendant and floor lamps by Ferruccio Laviani

Among the collection’s standout pieces is the Kabuki dimmable suspension lamp in technopolymer, characterized by an elaborate perforated surface that allows light to filter through its structure and create a distinctive decorative effect. The Kabuki family demonstrates Laviani’s ability to combine advanced manufacturing with an ornamental aesthetic, offering an expressive option for those searching for designer pendant lights, modern suspension lamps and sculptural lighting. Kartell floor lamps and outdoor lighting extend this approach to different settings, providing decorative illumination for living areas as well as selected exterior spaces.

Kartell table and portable lamps for contemporary spaces

Laviani’s table lighting includes two particularly recognizable Kartell designs. The Bourgie dimmable table lamp combines a classically inspired silhouette with a contemporary material language, creating a decorative focal point for living rooms, bedrooms and sophisticated interiors. The Take table lamp in polycarbonate follows a more compact approach, using transparency and an essential profile to create a versatile source of ambient light. Together with Kartell portable and rechargeable lighting solutions, these designs respond to different needs, from bedside illumination to flexible accent lighting around the home.

Designer lighting for walls, tables and living spaces

The breadth of the Ferruccio Laviani x Kartell collection makes it possible to coordinate different types of lighting while maintaining a coherent design language. Kartell table lamps can introduce focused or atmospheric illumination, floor lamps can define reading and lounge areas, and wall or suspension lamps can shape the overall lighting scheme without occupying valuable surfaces. When choosing between these solutions, factors such as room dimensions, lamp placement, desired atmosphere and the relationship between direct and diffused light can help determine the most suitable design.
