CAIRN YOUNG
Cairn Young wurde 1963 in Kalifornien geboren und studierte Architektur an der Kingston University in London, wo er 1991 mit seinem Freund und Designerkollegen Robin Platt das Atelier Platt & Young gründete. Eine produktive Partnerschaft, die viele Jahre andauerte. Im Rahmen dieses Projekts realisierten sie vielfältige Produkte, von Porzellangeschirr über Silberwaren bis hin zu Möbeldesign. Cairn Young arbeitet als unabhängiger Designer für internationale Unternehmen und arbeitet mit Marken wie Rosenthal , Koziol, WMF und Auerhahn in Deutschland, Driade und Sawaya&moroni in Italien und Baccarat Crystal in Frankreich zusammen. Im gleichen Zeitraum entwickelte Cairn weitere langjährige Kooperationen, und zu den bedeutendsten zählt das Yard Sale Project, dessen Werke aus der Kombination von Youngs technischen Entwürfen mit Spencers meisterhafter Handwerkskunst entstehen: eine Produktion von Möbeln auf Bestellung oder in limitierten Serien, manchmal auch für Ausstellungen auf Kunstmessen und in Museen, darunter das Museum of Arts and Design in New York, New York, das Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, Florida und das Bellevue Arts Museum in Bellevue, Washington.
