TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA
Tokujin Yoshioka was born in the prefecture of Saga, Japan in 1967. Since he was a child, influenced by Leonardo da Vinci, he developed a passion for painting and had a particular interest in science. After graduating at the Kuwasawa Design School in Tokyo in 1986, he studied with designers Shiro Kuramata and Issey Miyake. Driven by his passions, in 2004 he founded Tokujin Yoshioka Inc. Introducing experimental methods in his works, he creates extraordinary works that stimulate human senses through his memory and his emotions. His works also reflect the concept of nature, with strong roots in Japanese culture. Tokujin Yoshioka designed for Issey Miyake and other global companies such as Cartier, Swarovski, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Toyota and Lexus and has recently started new projects in collaboration with Italian furniture brands, including Kartell, Moroso, Glas Italia and Driade. He has won numerous international awards, including Design Miami Designer of the Year, Elle Deco International Design Awards, Designers of the Year and Milan Design Awards.
