GIULIA PRETTI
Giulia Pretti: Where Simplicity Meets Poetic Functionality
Giulia Pretti is a designer with a deep appreciation for clean lines, functionality, and meaningful aesthetics. After studying Furniture Design at the Politecnico di Milano, she specialized in Industrial Design, shaping a creative identity that fuses practicality with quiet innovation. Her work is rooted in a design philosophy that values everyday usefulness without sacrificing emotional impact—a balance that defines her approach to modern style, resulting to her collaboration with Progetti.
Global Perspective, Local Craft
Giulia Pretti has always embraced a global mindset. In 2008, she joined the “Designing Connected Places” workshop during Torino World Design Capital, collaborating with creatives from around the world. A study abroad program in Sweden gave her the opportunity to showcase her project “Ulla” at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. This international exposure has continued to influence her thoughtful, detail-driven aesthetic—reflected in each object she designs.
Designing Time with Character
Her collaboration with Progetti led to the creation of one of her most iconic pieces: the Progetti Fido cuckoo/table clock. Inspired by the loyal presence of a dog waiting at the door, the piece combines the warmth of a companion animal with the rhythm of a cuckoo clock. Through its silhouette and personality, it evokes familiarity and comfort—hallmarks of her signature simple design.
Everyday Design with a Soul
With an eye for poetic minimalism, Giulia Pretti continues to bring storytelling into the realm of modern style. Her work with Progetti shows how even the most ordinary object—a cuckoo clock—can reflect character and emotional depth. By keeping things visually light yet conceptually rich, she speaks to users who value timelessness, warmth, and quiet innovation in the design of everyday objects.
