Achille Castiglioni - Pier Giacomo Castiglioni give Flos Gatto its unmistakable organic character through a light steel framework wrapped in Cocoon resin, transforming technical construction into a softly glowing sculptural object. Designed for indoor use, the flos cocoon table lamp diffuses light across its entire surface rather than concentrating it in a single point, creating a calm atmosphere for bedside tables, consoles, living rooms and intimate hospitality settings. The white powder-coated steel structure provides the internal support, while the sprayed resin diffuser is protected by a transparent finish that preserves its delicate texture. Available in S and L formats, Gatto adapts to different surface dimensions while maintaining the same tactile visual presence and enveloping luminous effect.

Flos Gatto: Cocoon material and atmospheric illumination

The Flos Gatto table lamp reflects the material experimentation and refined lighting culture associated with Flos. Cocoon resin gives the diffuser its distinctive fibrous appearance, allowing the structure beneath to remain subtly perceptible while softening the emitted light into a warm, even glow. An electronic dimmer integrated into the power cable provides intuitive control over intensity, so the lamp can move from gentle evening ambience to brighter everyday illumination without disrupting the purity of the form. A 1.8 m cable supports practical placement across residential and contract interiors, while the white finish keeps the object visually light and easy to combine with timber, stone, glass, lacquer and upholstered surfaces.

A distinctive expression within Flos Table lights

As part of Flos Table Lights, Gatto offers a softer alternative to conventional glass or metal table lamps, using texture and diffused light to define its identity. The Small format works especially well on bedside tables, compact consoles and intimate lounge settings, while the larger version creates a stronger decorative presence on generous surfaces. The Gatto Cocoon table lamp remains visually engaging even when switched off, when the resin skin and rounded profile read as a sculptural furnishing object. When illuminated, the flos light diffuser produces a comfortable ambient layer that supports relaxation and conversation, making the family particularly effective in bedrooms, living areas, boutique hotels and refined reception spaces where lighting should contribute to atmosphere rather than simply provide task illumination.

An enduring icon within Flos Best Seller

Its place within Flos Best Sellers reflects the lasting relevance of a design that combines material innovation, visual softness and practical control with remarkable economy of form. The family also sits naturally within Achille Castiglioni x Flos, where experimentation with everyday materials becomes part of a broader language of intelligent Italian design. The Gatto designer table lamp brings warmth without decorative excess, balancing the technical precision of its steel structure with the almost textile-like quality of the Cocoon surface. Whether specified in the compact S size or the more expressive L format, it offers architects and interior designers a refined solution for creating intimate pools of diffused light while adding a recognisable sculptural presence to contemporary interiors.
