Philippe Starck gives Superarchimoon an extraordinary sense of scale, transforming the familiar Flos arc lamp into a piece that actively shapes the architecture around it. Its long adjustable aluminium arm projects light far beyond the base, allowing the fixture to reach over sofas, lounge seating and generous conversation areas without requiring a ceiling installation. A pleated fabric outer diffuser softens the monumental silhouette with tactile texture, creating an appealing contrast with the precision of aluminium and steel. Designed for indoor use, the lamp combines direct and diffused illumination so that its dramatic proportions never compromise visual comfort. As a giant arc floor lamp, Superarchimoon is especially suited to expansive living rooms, hotel lounges and hospitality spaces where lighting must establish both atmosphere and a memorable spatial identity.

Architectural scale within Flos Floor lighting

As part of the Flos Floor Lighting pieces, the Flos Superarchimoon floor lamp pushes the freestanding typology toward an almost architectural dimension. Its aluminium base provides a stable foundation for the extended adjustable arm, while steel elements contribute to the carefully engineered structure. The pleated textile shade tempers this technical framework, giving the Superarchimoon oversized arc floor lamp a softer visual character when viewed beside upholstered furniture, timber, stone or other richly textured materials. An electronic dimmer integrated into the power cable provides continuous adjustment from 0% to 100%, allowing the output to move from purposeful illumination to a much gentler evening ambience. The 1.6 m cable supports considered placement within a planned furniture arrangement, particularly where the lamp is intended to project its light across a large seating area.

Superarchimoon: adjustable reach with refined control

The Flos Superarchimoon floor lamp expresses the balance of engineering and visual character associated with Flos. Its adjustable arm allows the position of the light to respond to different seating configurations, making it especially effective as a floor lamp over sofa or as a cantilevered source beside a broad lounge arrangement. Direct light provides useful illumination beneath the shade, while diffused light contributes to the wider atmosphere of the room, preventing the imposing dimensions from feeling severe. The pleated fabric diffuser adds depth and softness to the illuminated surface, contrasting with the cooler character of the aluminium base and arm. For residential and hospitality projects alike, this combination of mobility, dimming and substantial reach makes the lamp a practical lighting instrument despite its unmistakably sculptural presence.

A dramatic counterpoint to Flos Table lights

Used alongside Flos Table Lights, the Flos Superarchimoon can anchor a layered lighting composition in which its expansive overhead reach is complemented by smaller local sources across consoles, side tables and reading surfaces. The Superarchimoon large cantilever floor lamp is particularly compelling in open-plan interiors where a conventional pendant may be undesirable or where furniture arrangements benefit from a source that can extend into the room from the side. Its generous proportions create a clear focal point, yet the fabric shade and controlled dimming help maintain an inviting atmosphere around the seating below. Whether specified in a contemporary residence, a refined hotel lounge or a design-led reception area, Superarchimoon combines monumental scale, tactile material contrast and adjustable illumination in a statement piece that makes the relationship between light, furniture and architecture an essential part of the interior.
