Francesca Lanzavecchia
A Creative Journey Across Cultures
Born in Pavia in 1983, Lanzavecchia studied Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano before completing a Master's in Conceptual Design at Design Academy Eindhoven with honours in 2008. She co-founded Lanzavecchia + Wai with Hunn Wai in 2010, connecting Italy and Singapore, and became its creative director in 2012. In 2024, she launched her independent studio. Collaborations with Zanotta, FIAM and Scab reflect a practice shaped by storytelling, craft and the principles of inclusive design.
Malvasia: Lightness Written in Metal
For Scab | Outdoor, she transforms outdoor chairs and armchairs into a study of light, shadow and touch. The Malvasia 2906 chair and Malvasia 2907 armchair use galvanised, powder-coated steel. Their perforated metal seat and backrest emerge from a single shaped piece, giving an industrial material the visual delicacy of woven fabric. Curved legs complete their airy outline.
New Interpretation of steel chairs through rope materials: Riviera 2908
The Malvasia Riviera 2908 steel armchair with woven nautical rope backrest and upholstered seat cushion offers another interpretation: a steel frame meets a backrest woven in nautical rope and an upholstered seat cushion. The contrast gives this outdoor rope armchair a warmer, more tactile presence, suited to conversations that outlast the afternoon.
Lanzavcchia for every outdoor space
Consider the atmosphere you want to create, rather than choosing a silhouette alone. From a private terrace to a welcoming garden dining area, Lanzavecchia's designer garden furniture balances expressive detail with everyday purpose. Her work invites you to furnish with empathy, making room for people as thoughtfully as for objects.
