MONA HATOUM
Mona Hatoum is an artist born in Beirut (Lebanon) in 1952 from a Palestinian family. In 1975, as a consequence of the devastating war in Lebanon, she moved to London where she still lives. She acts within the movements of surrealism and minimalism. She completed her studies at Slade School of Art in London where she began a reflection on gender, race and in general on the relationship between politics and the individual that lead her to represent performances. Her forms of expression are realized through installations and sculptures that use a wide range of materials. She designed the new Illy Art Collection for espresso and cappuccino cups.
