flos-stylos-floor-lamp
Flos Stylos floor lamp
Within Flos Floor Lighting, the Stylos floor lamp explores the architectural potential of a pure vertical form, using light itself to establish rhythm and proportion within the room. The tall opal PMMA diffuser rises from a silver powder-coated steel base, creating a luminous column that feels visually substantial yet remarkably restrained. Designed for indoor use, the fixture combines indirect and diffused illumination, allowing it to soften walls, furniture and surrounding materials without introducing the visual density of a conventional shade. The Stylos tall minimalist floor lamp works naturally in living rooms, entrance areas, hotel lounges and refined hospitality interiors, where its slender silhouette can define a quiet architectural zone while preserving open sightlines and the clarity of the wider interior composition.

Achille Castiglioni and the expressive power of reduction

Achille Castiglioni gives Stylos its distinctive identity by reducing the floor lamp to a simple relationship between base, translucent column and light. The silver powder-coated steel foundation provides visual stability, while the opal polymethyl methacrylate diffuser turns the upright body into a softly glowing architectural element. Rather than relying on decorative detail, the design gains character through scale, material contrast and the changing appearance of the diffuser when illuminated. As a modern column floor lamp, Stylos pairs particularly well with stone, timber, concrete, metal and textured upholstery, bringing a controlled vertical accent to both minimal settings and more layered interiors. Its sculptural presence remains clear even when switched off, allowing the lamp to function as part of the spatial composition throughout the day.

Flos Stylos: two light sources with independent control

The Flos Stylos floor lamp reflects the functional clarity associated with Flos, using two independent light sources positioned at opposite ends of the column to create a more flexible luminous effect. A double foot switch allows each source to be switched on or off separately, giving users control over how the indirect and diffused illumination contributes to the atmosphere. The fixture requires two E27 bulbs, which are not included, allowing suitable light sources to be selected according to the project. A 2.85 m cable provides practical freedom when positioning the lamp beside seating, along an architectural wall or within a larger lounge arrangement. This straightforward configuration makes Stylos especially effective as an ambient floor lamp where nuanced atmosphere and intuitive everyday operation are equally important.

Layered interiors with Achille Castiglioni x Flos and Flos Wall lights

Closely connected with Achille Castiglioni x Flos, Stylos demonstrates how a simple lighting typology can become a defining architectural presence through carefully judged proportion and purposeful construction. Used alongside Flos Wall Lights, the column can support layered schemes in which vertical ambient illumination is balanced by more localised light across surrounding surfaces. The Stylos light column floor lamp is particularly effective in double-height living areas, boutique hotel lounges, reception spaces and quieter corners where a conventional floor lamp might feel visually heavy. Its silver steel base introduces a precise metallic accent, while the opal PMMA body creates a softer luminous volume above. Whether used as a singular sculptural element or as part of a broader lighting concept, Stylos brings together architectural restraint, adaptable illumination and enduring Italian design character.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0550/0793/6771/files/flos-stylos-flor-lamp-F6310004-silver-1.webp?v=1792063059
